Ugandans have been urged to always seek counseling services to avert gender based violence as a result of Conflicts and disagreements .

The call was made by a Consultant family expert at the Islamic Heritage Foundation based in Nasana, which deals in counseling married couples, Sheikh Nsereko Muhammad who decried the high rate of gender-based violence as a result of covid-19 lockdown early year.

This as Uganda joined the rest of the world to commemorate the international family day observed every year on May 15th to highlight the importance of families as basic units of society.

As you are aware, the coronavirus pandemic has had an effect in different dimensions especially on the economic and domestic violence where a number of families made bigger changes in ever routine due to financial hardships, which raised tension resulting in gender-based Violence Sheikh Muhammad explained.

He applied to parliament to make laws and policies that favor the family system.

He said when the family system with outright values and morals is restored, cases of violence, child abuse, human trafficking, gender based violence among others decrease.

Kakyama Zaituni also a Counsellor Consultant family expert in the same organization called upon men and women to always seek marriage counseling before making the decision to enter into marriage to avoid gender-based violence.

According to Zaituni lack of communication between couples is the main reason why marriages are breaking.

The center conducts general counseling, parenting, Bedroom and well, conflict resolution and meditation, conflict resolution, and pre and extra morals training respectively among others.
