Kampala, Uganda — The Ugandan Parliamentary Forum on Malaria, in partnership with the Parliament of Uganda, recently hosted the Walk Against Malaria, a nationwide event that drew thousands in a unified call to eliminate malaria. A standout feature of the event was the participation of Children Voices Against Malaria, whose youthful energy and advocacy played a key role in its success.
The walk aimed to raise awareness about the devastating toll of malaria and advocate for stronger action to combat the disease. Children Voices Against Malaria, a group of passionate young advocates, collaborated with organizers to ensure that the voices of Uganda’s youth were front and center in the national conversation on malaria prevention.
Throughout the event, the children captivated audiences with skits, songs, and dances that creatively highlighted the importance of malaria control. Their performances not only entertained but also educated attendees, reinforcing the urgent need for collective action against malaria.
“We are thrilled to have partnered with Children Voices Against Malaria for this important event,” said Hon. Dr. Batuwa Timothy, Chairperson of the Ugandan Parliamentary Forum on Malaria. “Their passion and dedication are truly inspiring, and we look forward to continued collaboration in our efforts to eliminate malaria in Uganda.”
The event concluded with a powerful call to action, urging individuals, communities, and governments to prioritize malaria prevention, particularly in schools. Organizers reaffirmed their commitment to a malaria-free Uganda through sustained partnerships and increased public engagement.
This collaboration between the Ugandan Parliamentary Forum on Malaria, Children Voices Against Malaria, and the Parliament of Uganda underscores the importance of unified, intergenerational efforts in the fight against malaria. As Uganda continues its battle with the disease, the role of young advocates remains critical to maintaining momentum and driving progress.
It’s time to reinvest, reimagine, and reignite the path toward a malaria-free Uganda.
