Yesterday, the Science, Technology, and Innovation Committee of Parliament, led by its Deputy Chairperson, Hon.Dr Florence Asiimwe Akiiki , Woman MP of Masindi District, embarked on an important field visit to Ntungamo District as part of their ongoing oversight on the Industrial Value Chain development across Uganda. This visit is part of a broader initiative by the Committee, which has been traveling across the country, having already visited the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Western regions to evaluate key developments in various industrial sectors.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Coffee Value Chain Development project, a pioneering initiative embraced by Inspire Africa Group in Ntungamo. This project is centered around the famous Coffee Consortium, which has made significant strides in the region. The Consortium has not only created jobs but has also brought forward an inspiring story of sustainable coffee production and processing, earning a reputation for its innovative approach.

Despite facing notable challenges, particularly with inconsistent power and water supply, the Coffee Consortium has made tremendous progress. The Committee observed firsthand the project’s progress, with over 70% of the equipment installation already completed.

The facility is set to be officially commissioned by President Museveni in May 2025. This milestone marks a significant step in realizing the vision of developing Uganda’s coffee industry and enhancing its value chain.
