Kisoro MPs divided over constituency creation

As election fever for 2021 mounts, sections of parliamentary legislators in Kisoro are up in their arms over the proposed creation of Bukimbiri constituency in the district.
Hon. Nizeyimana Kamara, the Bufumbira North Member of Parliament has challenged the proposal saying that the agitators never consulted him in the process of forwarding the matter to the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Tom Butime.
Kamara faults the former Minister for Ethics and Integrity for trying to use his Local government Ministry connections to influence encroachment on his area of jurisdiction while trying to cause the creation of another electoral area.
According the copy of that letter which Kamara claims never to have received, the newly proposed Bukimbiri would comprise of Nyundo, Bukimbiri, Kirundo and Nyabwishenya Sub Counties.
“If Bukimbiri Constituency is created, it shall make seven sub counties of Bukimbiri, Nyabwishenya, Kirundo, Nyanamo Town Council, Nyundo, Nkuringo and Rubuguri Town Council.” He says.
This scenario shall leave Bufumbira North with only two sub-counties which include Busanza and Nyarubuye. Then Bufumbira East would remain with only three sub counties that is Nyakabande, Mulora and Kanaba.”
Buturo badly needs the creation of Bukimbiri constituency due to political pressures mounted by his longtime challenger, Hon. Eddy Kwizera of Bukimbiri East who comes from other Sub Counties considered opposition.
Kamara who is also a resident of Busanza fears to lose support from his upcoming challenger who comes from Nyarubuye Sub County in case Bukimbiri is created.
The twist came recently when the government announced the proposal to create more twenty cities in the country without Bukimbiri constituency being mentioned.
However, this request emanated from the presidential pledge during 2016 general elections campaign at Rubuguri playground, Kirundo Sub County, Bufumbira North Constituency, Kisoro district.
