As a way of lifting preventive standards against COVID 19, the infectious disease institute has donated commodities worth UGX.210M to be used in the prevention of COVID 19.

Speaking at the handover ceremony held today at the health ministry headquarters in Kampala, the health minister Jane Aceng said, the equipment are to be installed at all border entry points including the airport to test and treat any identified case of COVID 19.

Officials from Infectious disease institute reminds Ugandans to be on alert and respect the set guidelines if the country is to keep away from the deadly coronavirus.

Some of the equipment donated include, air masks, overalls, gumboots, disinfectants, beds, mattresses, garbage collection bins, among others.

Meanwhile, a concerned Citizen has petitioned the High court in Kampala seeking for orders suspending the 2021 General elections until government gains control over the threatening pandemic corona virus.

Abby Mgugu has sued the Electoral Commission and the Attorney General of Government.

Mgugu also wants court to declare a state of health emergence in the country and halt the elections until 2026 .

Mgugu argues Ugandans will not exercise their civic right to vote as enshrined in the constitution due to limited movement and association since according to the World Health organisation, Corona virus is prevented by maintaining a distance from an infected person.

He adds that now people are asked to sanitize before accessing any public place to protect them against corona virus, but that political rallies are difficult to manage owing to the fact that they are held in open, crowded places associated with uncontrollable movements and excessive contact.
