The minister of agriculture, animal industry and fisheries, Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja has advised that Doctors to  listen to government`s request to go back to their duties and save lives of Ugandans who have started dying in hospitals for lack of help.

Ssempijja was representing the Vice President, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi at the Uganda Cares function to commemorate 15 years of service in Uganda in Masaka town today. He said government has setup an independent committee to scrutinize salaries of all government workers and it is about to release its report for cabinet approval.

Ssempijja thanked doctors in Masaka district who refused to join the strike, adding that the primary responsibility of a doctor is to save lives not to demand for higher pay as others think, he said the best way is to go into negotiations while on duty.

Henry Magala, the country program director for Uganda Cares thanked President Museveni for his efforts in the fight against AIDS in Uganda; he said Uganda Cares is ready to join him in his scheme, Presidential Initiative to fast truck HIV before 2030.

While at a rally in Kabarole District this week, President Museveni vowed to sack all striking doctors over failure to respect his orders, he noted that striking doctors are failing the National Resistance Movement principles of managing scarce resources.

The President added that he has powers to appoint and sack therefore can fire all of them and soon replace the unruly doctors with the people hungry for jobs.
