The West Nile Parliamentary Caucus has met with the newly appointed minister of state for the Northern Region, Hon. Dr. Keneth Omona, at the prime minister’s office in Kampala.
The meeting, attended by several West Nile legislators, including the Area Member of Parliament for Obongi Constituency, Dr. George Didi Bhoka, aimed to provide a platform for the minister and legislators to discuss development challenges affecting the region and to strategize on addressing them. The focus was on wealth creation, human capital development, infrastructure for trade, commerce, and industrialization in the region, leveraging its strategic location neighboring RDC, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic.
The meeting recommended a follow-up meeting in Arua with regional stakeholders to fast-track strategic development programs. The key initiatives included the regional agricultural development master plans, connecting West Nile to the national grid, constructing strategic roads and bridges, and upgrading the Arua field to an international airport, among others.
