The UNEB executive secretary Daniel Odong has today released the UCE time table noting that this year female candidates are more than male candidates.
He states that the number of female candidates is making up 50.2% an increase from 49.5%
UNEB adds that this is a significant development as for the last four years the board has been reporting more males than females registering for UCE.
A total of 337,697 candidates have been registered to write their UCE exams, among these 168,639 are males and 169,058 are females.
This year, the board has registered an increase of 963 candidates from 336,734 for 2018.
However, police publicist, Fred Enangaa confirms that they will proved the needed support to have a smooth examination period.
UNEB and Police note that 2019 UCE examination will be managed by 474 area supervisors, 3,531centre supervisors, 13,279 chief invigilators and slightly over 1,200 scouts.
The 2019 examination will be conducted under the theme, integrity and security in the management of examinations is my responsibility. And the rational behind this theme is based on the fact that for far too long, the stakeholders and the public have tended to look at the examinations as a UNEB affair.
The board now reminds the public that examinations are a national affairs whose results are used to make decisions affecting the future of thousands of children of this nation.
The exams start with candidates briefing this Friday and here teachers are expected to explain clearly to the candidates the rules and regulations regarding the conduct of the examinations and on Monday candidates will write their physics practicals paper.
