UNEB has banned schools from celebrating better performance as it has previously been.
According to the chairperson and executive secretary of the board, school heads, parents and pupils are reminded that the country is still under lockdown and should observe the set covid-19 SOPs to avert the likely spread of covid19.
Parents and school heads are advised to access results via phones and other online platforms set by UNEB.
Prof. Mary Okwakor warns that anyone found bleaching the guidelines will be prosecuted under the new UNEB act.
Now, the just released 2020 PLE results indicate that boys have performed better than girls with the year’s performance increasing by 11.1% as compared to last year.
While reading the out comes before the nation at a function held at state house Entebbe today, the executive secretary UNEB Daniel Odong indicated that, despite the challenging times, pupils have managed to perform better.
He notes that overall performance shows that boys performed better than girls in SST, science and MTC and girls performed better in English.
On releasing the results, the education minister Janet Kataha Museveni asked parents not to give up on parenting as the schools continue to be under lockdown.
She adds that continued parenting will give hope to learners to attain their aspirations.
However, results of 2220 candidates have been withheld due to suspicions of exam malpractices.
The board sighted exam malpractices in the Rwenzori district and of Bundibugyo and Kasese.
