Ugandan Firms Face ESG Test as New Survey Probes Readiness
By Solomon Lubambula
Kasi Insight, Africa’s leading decision intelligence platform, in partnership with Capital One Group’s communication and marketing agency, has launched a survey to evaluate how Ugandan organizations are integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.
The initiative comes as businesses navigate evolving local and global regulatory frameworks. Capital One’s Managing Director, Paul Mwirigi Muriungi, said the survey will assess challenges, priorities, and opportunities for building a sustainable ESG framework to guide both businesses and policymakers.
“This survey is aimed at understanding how organizations in Uganda are integrating ESG practices. By mapping the landscape, companies will gain insights to address sustainability challenges while seizing emerging opportunities responsibly,” Mwirigi explained.
Ernest Ssekisonge, Managing Director of Kasi Insight, cautioned that companies failing to embed ESG into their strategies risk long-term setbacks.
He noted that the study seeks to highlight commitments to shared value creation and sustainable growth across sectors.
“We believe there’s been a gap in terms of a comprehensive ESG outlook. A lot of good work is being done, so we want to put that all together in this ESG survey, and then we can inform what’s being done, what lies ahead, and what the future looks like for ESG in Uganda,”-Ssekisonge said.
The survey findings, to be released at an awards ceremony on October 22, 2025, are expected to offer actionable guidance, encourage greater ESG adoption, and support Uganda’s sustainable development goals.
Kasi Insight, the survey’s technical lead, provides real-time, aggregated, and trended primary data to empower African decision-makers. Both partners emphasized that integrating ESG into core business models is essential for driving value creation, ensuring compliance, and strengthening trust with stakeholders.
