The 14th Inter Forces Games and Championships 2018

In the spirit of enhancing joint operations for sustainable national security among national armed forces, the chief of defense forces Gen David Muhoozi has today launched the 14th inter forces games and championships of 2018 at Uganda Media center; which will be opened tomorrow by the prime minister of Uganda Dr Rukahana Rugunda at Bombo military barracks.
Over 800 armed men and women will compete in 8 sports disciplines including; Football, Netball,Volleyball, handball, Darts, Taekwondo, Athletics and Range shooting which will be hosted in three venues of Bombo ,Kigo and Namboole stadium.
The Championships which have been organized at the cost of 164 million Uganda shillings are aimed at among other things to enhance physical fitness of the armed forces, sports and service professionalism, inspiration to the youths and command.
However Titus Tugume a prominent UPDF athletes is not happy with the way UPDF rewards its sports personalities claiming he was last elevated in 2016 yet he has won a lot of international accolades in Kick boxing since then. But the CDF Gen. David Muhoozi noted that the issue of rewarding officers with ranks is still debatable in the force because some athletes get relaxed in sports ounce they are elevated since ranks come with huge responsibilities.
Representatives from other armed forces including Uganda police force, Uganda Prisons Services and Uganda Wild life Authority Vowed to stage tough competition and take take the trophy home. Last years competitions were won by Uganda prisons services. Members of the public have been called upon to grace the events in the spirit of building rapport between armed men and civilians
