Speaker Tips Banks On Community Develoment.
Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has tipped Banks to place the community at the center of their operations if they are to win the trust of the people.
Speaking during a meeting with top management of Postbank led by the Managing Director Julius Kakeeto, also attended by the Rt Hon Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa in her office this afternoon, Among asked Banking institutions to place corporate social responsibility at the Centre of what they do so that the communities can identify with them.
” As a senior Banker of ten years, I advise you to take interest in matters that affect the well-being of society such as health care, water and sanitation, and maternal health so that you are not dismissed as those only interested in profit,” the Speaker said.
The Speaker also encouraged people to support locally owned banks to encourage the growth of indigenous banks.
She also pledged to support the capitalization of Post bank if the audit reports show good progress, which the Bank Managing Director had requested.
