The Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has rallied the people of Bukedea District and the wider Teso sub-region to register as members of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. At Apopong Primary School in Bukedea District, Speaker Among emphasized the party’s longstanding credibility and the leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The registration exercise, part of a nationwide effort, commenced on Wednesday, March 13th, and will conclude on Sunday, March 17th, 2024. The initiative aims to enlist new supporters aged 16 and above while updating the particulars of existing members.

President Museveni, who also serves as the NRM National Chairman, recently launched the registration at the party’s headquarters in Kampala. During the launch, he underscored the importance of scrutinizing potential members to ensure their alignment with NRM principles of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation, and democracy.

Addressing the gathering at Apopong Primary School, Speaker Among highlighted President Museveni’s transformative leadership, which has steered Uganda towards progress and economic stability over the past four decades. She praised the President’s role in positioning Uganda as a regional and global economic powerhouse.

The registration process, overseen by NRM officials, aims for transparency and discipline, according to the party’s first National Vice Chairman, Al Hajj Moses Kigongo. He emphasized the importance of updating the party register accurately to maintain credibility.

Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, the NRM Secretary General, affirmed the party’s commitment to President Museveni’s legacy and urged members to offer themselves for the party’s cause in future elections. He cautioned against subversive activities and emphasized loyalty to the party chairman.

The update and registration process, supervised by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi, involves displaying the register in all 72,000 villages and convening village barazas for engagement on March 17th, 2024.

The event at Apopong Primary School saw the participation of senior party members from Bukedea and NRM district chairpersons, underscoring the significance of the registration drive.

Speaker Among’s call to action resonated with attendees, emphasizing the importance of active participation in shaping Uganda’s political landscape through the NRM party. The registration drive continues to mobilize communities across Uganda, reinforcing the NRM’s vision of sustainable progress and development under President Museveni’s leadership.
