Speaker Among Rallies Bugiri Residents to Back Museveni, Highlights Peace and Jobs

Bugiri District | Homeland Media — The Speaker of Parliament and NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female), Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has urged Bugiri residents to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming elections, saying his leadership guarantees peace, development, and prosperity.

Addressing a rally on Monday, Among warned against “protest votes,” saying they risk undoing the country’s hard-won stability.

“The umbrella can’t do anything for you. A protesting vote is a vote against peace,” she said. “With President Museveni, your future is secure — peace is protected, land ownership safeguarded, and jobs created for youth.”

Among highlighted government investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and job creation. She said Parliament had approved funding for the Bugiri Regional Hospital upgrade and the India Express Highway, noting these projects would improve healthcare, roads, and economic opportunities.

“President Museveni has approved money for the hospital and roads. These developments mean better services and more opportunities for our people,” she said.

She also revealed that the Parish Development Model (PDM) funding would be doubled to enhance household incomes, and local leaders would receive an additional Shs 15 million per parish to support community development.

“Every household will benefit, and local leaders will have resources to strengthen service delivery,” she said.

Among praised the President for promoting industrial growth, increasing job opportunities for youth and women, and prioritizing security and rural electrification. She cited northern Uganda as an example of the NRM government’s success in restoring peace and rebuilding communities.

“Before Museveni came to power, people in northern Uganda lived in camps. Today, they live peacefully, run businesses, and send children to school,” she said.

She concluded by rallying residents to unite behind President Museveni, noting that regions like Teso gained ministers by supporting him and urging Bugiri to follow suit.

Among also promised to use her office to support local development projects through corporate social responsibility initiatives, including health centers and support for vulnerable groups.
