Thousands of residents in Kasese are still stranded as they have nowhere to sleep and nothing to feed on pausing a huge threat to their survival.
This follows the rains which resumed pouring in different parts of the country with kasese not spared forcing rivers to burst their banks.
River Nyamwanba and Mubuku have again burst their banks spreading wide into people’s homes, gardens, and workplaces in the area.
Since then thousands have lost their homes, jobs and this continues to pause a huge health threat to the population since in neighboring DRC there is another Ebola outbreak which has claimed over 100 lives now.
However, the affected residents in Kasese are wondering why the government has delayed extending relief to them.
Currently, the affected residents are now relying on support from voluntary organizations like Red Cross and world vision.
With gardens swept by running water, residents are worried that they are likely to face hunger and hunger-related health complications.
Residents have turned to sleep in makeshift shelters in schools and other open spaces around the district.
Kasese and neighboring districts of Bundibudgyo are usually faced with a problem of floods whenever it rains leaving massive destruction of property and lives.
