Denis Alyenyo, a son of Dr Francis Ongia, the Chairperson Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) in Amolator District, has been handed back to his family, after ten days in captivity.

Alyenyo was allegedly kidnapped from Maga Maga, along with the Jinja-Iganga Highway, on March 30. It was later reported that his kidnappers were seeking a 15 million Shillings ransom for his release.

He remained in the hands of the captors until yesterday when he was dumped at the Kampala northern bypass on at about 4 am on Sunday, April 8. He later walked to Kiira Road Police Station from where he recorded a statement.

In his statement, Alyenyo told Police that he was called by unknown people who were seated in a Premio motor vehicle. But the group turned hostile as soon as he reached the vehicle, and forcibly dragged him into the vehicle and sped off.

“They stopped and removed me out of the car on the Northern bypass and told me to say a prayer before they killed me. When I opened my eyes, they were all gone,” reads the statement.

The suspected kidnappers, who Alyenyo could not readily describe, are alleged to have used his mobile phone number to ask for a ransom of 5 million Shillings from his father. But according to the Deputy Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the family and the kidnappers had agreed on a payment of 3.8million Shillings after negotiations.

Alyenyo has also undergone a medical examination on request of Police after he revealed that he had been injected with unknown chemicals while in his captor’s hands. Police are still waiting for the medical report to establish the possibility of any harmful chemicals in his body.
