Parliamentary Health Committee Decries Lack of coordination Between Local Government leaders and NMS.
The Parliament committee on Health decries lack of coordination between local government leaders and the National Medical Stores saying this has led to the increase in the widespread theft of drugs and medical supplies in health facilities.
During a fact finding mission tour to the National Medical Stores warehouses in Entebbe and Kajjansi,the Mps says it shocking to find drugs delivered to health facilities free of charge being resold on the black market.
The Chairperson of the committee also Koboko Municipality Member of parliament Dr. Charles Ayume lauded National Medical Stores – NMS for strengthening the drug supply chain to improve health service delivery in Uganda.
For his part, the General Manager of National Medical Stores Moses Kamabare acknowledges the gaps being exploited to steal drugs from health facilities, saying these will be addressed with the latest innovations put in place by National Medical Stores.
