Parliament calls for a Forensic Audit of Emyooga.

Parliament concluded a probe in Emyooga funds yesterday with a call for a forensic audit on the Microfinance support center and a reprimand of all those found.
MPs faulted the government for implementing Emyooga program without clear guidelines which exposed the program to mess.
After unearthing gross abuse and mismanagement of Emyooga Funds, the Deputy Speaker of parliament Anita Among has directed the Auditor General to carry out a forensic audit into the Microfinance Support Centre following its indictment by several regional oversight reports of Members of Parliament.
Anita Among Deputy Speaker Of Parliament Among asked the government to develop guidelines on the implementation of Emyooga programs with effective controls and streamlines eligibility, inclusivity, Fairness, Equity, and operations of the emyooga program and other similar programs.
The Deputy Speaker also directed the Minister in charge of Microfinance to provide the House with monthly reports on the implementation and progress of the emyooga program
Members of parliament faulted the government for using a false structure in the disbursement of Emyooga funds, which exposed the funds to misuse due to the absence of direct accounting officers.
Legislators have welcomed the decision to have a forensic audit into Emyooga Funds and blamed the abuse of funds on the bad timing of the program, having kicked off at the epitome of politics.
Ephraim Ganshanga MP Buhweju West Dennis Nyangweso MP Samia-Bugwe Central MPs discovered that the implementation of Emyooga Funds was largely affected by the lack of skills and adequate training/preparation of the beneficiaries before they received the funds.
