A tense situation unfolded around Parliament as more than 10 people were arrested during a protest against alleged widespread corruption in government.
The parliament area was on high alert, with all roads leading to the parliament building closed to the public, including Parliament Avenue, Siad Bare Avenue, Kimathi Avenue, and King George Street.
Despite the heavy security presence, protesters managed to reach the National Theater which is a stone’s throw away from parliament, carrying signs condemning corruption.
However, police eventually arrested 10 of them and took them away in a van. The protesters continued to express their grievances from the van window.
Some MPs have expressed discontent with the situation, arguing that protesters should be allowed to convey their message peacefully.
