Following yesterday’s routine testing of frontline workers, one of the immigration officers at Elegu border tested positive and was rushed to Mulago hospital while the other officers are being quarantined.
According to the spokesperson, internal affairs ministry, Jacob Siminyu, the officers were replaced to enable smooth operations at the borders.
Ministry of health on 30th June 2020 confirmed that 7 new positive cases of frontline health workers in the country.
Among the confirmed cases included three nurses, two doctors, Two senior level staff who have all been admitted to Entebbe grade B and Mulago specialized hospitals and are in stable condition.
He further cautions immigration officer on duty to be extra cautious to avoid contracting the disease.
According to the health ministry, a team of experts in infection, prevention and control, case management and psychosocial management are in various places where health workers tested positive to evaluate the response and investigate what led to the unfortunate infection of health workers.
Uganda’s positive cases are now totaling to over 417.
