Obongi and Moyo districts fight for refugees

Ismael Obulesio a resident of Palorinya sub-county Obongi District is nursing serious injuries at Obongi Health center iv following a recent attack where its claimed that he was bartered for his, overwhelming support to Palorinya sub county to remain part of the newly created Obongi district as opposed to many leaders in Moyo district who want the same sub county to be under their jurisdictions.
Obulesio is not suffering alone but also another group of residents of Palorinya whose properties were burnt down in arson. They claim that they are being witch hunted for their love to stay under Obongi district.
Although Obongi district was operationalized on 1st July this year, the rift and tension between Obongi and mother district of Moyo is getting deeper due to disputes arising from Palorinya Sub County that is claimed by both rivalry districts which has sparked off several attacks between residents of the two districts.
According to the area Member of Parliament Hassan Kaps Fungaroo, the fist fight is fueled by the district Woman MP of Mojo Moreku Kaducu who is also the state minister of primary health.
With no doubt, Palorinya is a hot cake for the two districts because it hosts one of the biggest refugee camps which comes with slot of benefits to the hosting district he said .
Fungaroo who officiated at inaugural district football competitions for primary schools on Saturday dared no one to stop Obongi County from prospering as an independent district and tasked the president to appoint a district RDC, as early as he can before they can appoint their own to fully constitute a District
The first deputy Prime Minister Gen Moses Ali an elder in West Nile Sub region, asked the fighting districts to cease fire on the battle which he believes to be useless.
He wondered how districts can fight over Refugees who are not permanent in the area.
However he says that Palorinya is part of the new district of Obongi, but he suggests that Obogi should leave Moyo to take refuge support funds for the current financial year as they wait for the mistake to be corrected.
The new district police commander (DPC) Mr. Charles Okelo and the Chief Administrative officer (CAO) Mr. Charles Ouma assured the public on security and management.
Leaders from West Nile are set to meet and dialogue on frictions that are likely to stall development in a fresh District. Obongi district was created in a resolution of parliament passed in 2015. But a one month district is operating without a tarmac road and only one Ferry to connect with Adjumani where a direct route is to Kampala and Gulu .
Obongi health center iii is the only facility available to address health issues in the area and Hydroelectricity connection is also a dream. But leaders are to turn everything around starting with the construction of the district headquarters.
