The permanent secretary ministry of internal affairs Dr. Benon Mutambi reveals plans by the ministry to set up a Kampala regional immigration office that will work as a passport collection center.
As a way of decongesting the ministry, Mutambi says the center will be opened before the close of the year among other centers in Mbale, Arua, Gulu.
However, the ministry confirms making drastic changes in the immigration department to serve clients as they come adding that this has been done to meet the fast-growing numbers of Ugandans applying for passports to work and travel abroad.
Currently the department is producing over 2000 passports daily and exporting 18,863 for external labour in mainly the Middle East.
