New Network Sites to Boost Growth in Arua City

Airtel Uganda has taken a significant step toward enhancing socio-economic development in Arua City by commissioning seven new network sites across the municipality. This initiative is part of Airtel’s broader strategy to improve digital connectivity and bridge the digital divide in the West Nile region.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Martin Kawule, Airtel Uganda’s Regional Business Manager for West Nile, emphasized the crucial role of reliable connectivity in today’s world. He noted that access to fast and stable internet is not just a luxury, but a vital resource that powers key sectors such as education, business, healthcare, and financial inclusion. Kawule stressed that as Arua continues to grow as a hub for regional trade, education, and innovation, strong network infrastructure will be essential to support that growth.

The seven newly commissioned network sites are strategically located in Arua National Water, Arua Town, Nvara Ward, Pangisa, Arua Hospital, Zambia Zone, and Onzivu. These sites are now fully operational and are expected to significantly improve service coverage, voice clarity, and internet speeds for users in these areas.

Kawule explained that this upgrade will help the local population, including businesses, farmers, students, and families, to tap into digital opportunities that can improve their standards of living.

During the launch event, the Bishop of the Diocese of Madi-Nile, Rt. Rev. Charles Collins Andaku, who served as the Chief Guest, welcomed the development and highlighted its broader societal impact. He said Airtel’s investment goes beyond improving communication—it also promotes entrepreneurship and supports youth empowerment through ICT training.

Reverend Andaku acknowledged the important role that enhanced connectivity plays in improving health and social services by making it easier for healthcare workers to communicate, enabling telemedicine services, and giving communities access to dependable digital health platforms.

Reverend Andaku also pointed out that better connectivity would greatly benefit the church’s outreach efforts. “As a church, we see great potential in digital evangelism and online ministry,” he said.

“With improved internet connectivity, we can significantly enhance our outreach efforts by sharing the message of faith through digital platforms and virtual services.”-Rev Andaku

Kawule reassured the public of Airtel’s commitment to delivering affordable, high-quality communication services. He recalled a community engagement held at the College in Arua the previous year, during which residents voiced their concerns about network issues.

“We made a promise to act on the feedback we received, We have kept our word and remain dedicated to connecting West Nile to the world.”-Kawule said

This network expansion is a clear sign of Airtel Uganda’s continued investment in the region and its mission to empower communities through digital inclusion.

With the new sites now live, residents of Arua can look forward to more seamless communication, expanded business potential, improved access to information, and a stronger digital presence that supports overall development.

This move is not just a boost for telecom infrastructure in Arua, but a foundational step toward digital transformation that empowers individuals and strengthens community resilience in the modern economy.
