Faith Nakut, the Napak woman representative, has vehemently denied social media claims that she condoned MPs spending three nights in Acholi lodges and hotels to engage in illicit activities during the upcoming parliamentary sitting in Gulu.
“I am shocked and disappointed by the deliberate misrepresentation of my statements,” Nakut said during a press briefing. “I never endorsed the idea of MPs indulging in inappropriate activities. My comments were taken out of context and twisted to suit the agenda of certain individuals.”
Nakut clarified that her initial statement emphasized the importance of regional parliamentary sittings, which provide a platform for in-depth discussions on region-specific issues and allow citizens to submit petitions concerning matters that directly impact their communities.
“Regional sittings are crucial for focused attention on specific regions, and I fully support holding them in various locations, including Gulu, Mbarara, and Masaka,” Nakut emphasized.
She urged the public to disregard the malicious claims and instead focus on the positive impact of regional settings. “Let us not be distracted by misinformation. Instead, let us work together to ensure that our communities receive the attention they deserve from parliament.”
