The Area Member of Parliament for Obongi Constituency, Hon. Dr. George Didi Bhoka, has continued his engagement with women leaders, holding meetings with Women Councilors and Women League representatives in Gimara and Obongi Town Council. The focus of the gatherings was on empowering women through education, skills development, and commercialization of agriculture.
During the meetings, Hon. Dr. Bhoka highlighted various government programs aimed at alleviating poverty and emphasized business opportunities available within the district. He encouraged women to take on leadership roles and to form groups to better access and benefit from the Wealth Creation funds.
Women leaders also raised several concerns affecting their communities. These included:
• Poor utilization of Wealth Creation funds due to limited training and mindset barriers.
• Inadequate monitoring of government funds by technical staff.
• Water scarcity in areas such as Greater Delo in Gimara Sub-county.
• The need for support toward Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers in Gimara, to enhance the education system.
In response, Sub-county Chiefs urged women to actively participate in local planning meetings to stay informed and contribute to the implementation of government initiatives.
This engagement was part of the MP’s broader effort to empower women leaders and promote community-driven development through informed decision-making and collective action.
