Arua Central Division City Member of Parliament, who also doubles as the (NRM) Whip for west Nile, Jackson Atima Lee Buti has condemned escalating school strikes in the region, saying this will only lead to more destruction of property.
In an interview with Journalists at parliament, Hon Atima said the strikes have ravaged many schools in the West Nile sub-region into ruins.
He called on students to desist from destroying school properties while expressing their anger against the school administrators; noting that this will only derail development in the region that has been moving forward.
West Nile has been rocked by a wide spate of strikes leaving infrastructure destroyed. In less than a month, strikes have erupted in six schools due to disagreements between students and school management due to lack of water, a good diet, and entertainment services
The affected schools include St Joseph’s college Ombaci in Arua, Katirine secondary school in Terego district, Koboko town college, Koboko district, Kijomoro SS in Maracha district, St Andrews, and Hawa comprehensive secondary in Moyo district among others.
