Mawanda Dismisses Claims of PLU Western Uganda Coordinator

By Isaac Senabulya

Igara East Member of Parliament and National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer, Michael Mawanda Maranga, has dismissed claims by Gerald Agaba that he is the Chief Coordinator of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in Western Uganda.

Mawanda, who also serves as Director of Mobilisation at PLU, described the claims as baseless, saying Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chairman of PLU, has not appointed Agaba to that position.

Addressing the media at his county office in Kitwe Rwentuha, Bushenyi District, Mawanda said PLU has a clear leadership structure, which includes a Vice Chairperson for Western Uganda, Hon. Dr. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs.

He also clarified the status of Edgar Rwambika, an independent parliamentary candidate for Ruhinda County in Mitooma District, noting that while Rwambika is a member of PLU, he is contesting as an independent and not on any party ticket. Mawanda added that Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba had earlier guided PLU members to contest under the NRM party flag.

‎Mawanda urged Ugandans to actively participate in the forthcoming general elections and to support NRM flag bearers across the country.
