Mao Vows not to step down from DP Presidency.
Parliament has vetted and approved the Democratic party president general Nobert Mao to serve in the government of NRM as a minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
Mao has vowed to continue leading DP under NRM saying his MoU with NRM does not contravene the party constitution.
The former Presidential candidate Nobert Mao made his way to parliament at 9:40 to secure his future in President Yoweri Museveni led government. It took him over 20 minutes to exit his car and proceed to the closed vetting committee chaired by Parliament’s speaker Anita Among.
Barely a day since his appointment was announced, the Democratic Party President General Nobert Mao has been vetted and approved by the parliament’s Appointments committee as a minister of Justice and constitutional affairs, the office that remained empty until recently when the Public Service Minister Muluuli Mukasa was appointed as a care taker.
Mao spoke about the co-operation agreement he signed with president Museveni saying it gives him an opportunity to meet the president on a quarterly basis to discuss matters of national importance
He also disclosed how the Memorandum of understanding will enable him to sit on the national security council as an exofacial to give advise on matters of human rights.

Addressing the press at parliament shortly after his vetting, Mao scoffed at the bickering DP Members that he is not intending to step down from party presidency.
Beatrice Akello the Agago district Woman MP wax also vetted as a minister of state for economic monitoring.
