Govt Urged to Supply Sickle Cells Drugs at All Health Centers

Ngora MP David Abala has noted with concern the increasing number of people suffering from the sickle cells disease ‘in Ngora.
The legislator is asking Government to budget for the disease to ensure that drugs and blood are readily available at all health centers in the area to help the patients.
Abala says that the disease is high in the whole of Teso sub region and Ngora alone has over 5000 people battling with the disease.
He says that treating and managing sickle cell disease is very expensive and given the level of poverty in the region, a big number of people are dying.
Abala is also advising couples to check their sickle cells status before they commit adding that two people who are suffer from sickle cells will produce children with the disease making the disease to multiply.
