Government Confirms Receiving Lists Of Covid-19 Beneficiaries

The Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development Betty Amongi has confirmed receiving some of the lists of categories of people to benefit from the Covid-19 relief support that commences on Wednesday next week.
Addressing the Media on the Ongoing Registration of Persons to benefit from the relief fund, Amongi says that names of those received follow in the categories of hawkers, artists, DJs, Private School teachers, and Saloon operators.
This ending week, the ministry released a list of 13 categories of beneficiaries including taxi and bus drivers, conductors, baggage carriers, wheelbarrow pushers, touts, traffic guides and loaders in the taxi, bus parks, and stages, barmaids, waiters, and bouncers, bar gym and restaurant workers, food vendors in the bus and taxi parks among others.
Amongi says that through Town Clerks, authorities like the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), cities, and municipalities have been tasked to facilitate their mandates of compiling and verifying data and payment.
The minister, however, clarifies the concern of having Persons with disabilities, older persons, and women among the categories of beneficiaries saying that these groups of people arere part of the targeted persons.
