Deputy Speaker Calls for Counselling Services to Children
Deputy Speaker Anita Among has met with a team from the world health organization led by the country representative Yonas Tegegn Woldemariam and MPs on the parliamentary forum on mental health led by their chairman Hon Macho Godfrey of Busia municipality, to discuss issues related to mental health.
Speaking during the meeting, the deputy speaker thanked the MPs for openly talking about issues of mental health and asked them to take the gospel to their constituencies.
She noted that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a lot of stress in the Communities and called for interventions to deal with the situation.

She also called for a mechanism to offer counseling services to children before they go back to school because of the stress they have gone through during the pandemic and the trauma and stigma caused by the cases of Covid -19 registered in schools.
She applied to communities to embrace the idea of being one another’s keeper so that our neighbors facing the weight of the pandemic can receive help since most of the mental health cases need counseling and psychosocial support.
