The international restaurant brand Chicking has officially opened its first outlet in Kampala, marking the company’s entry into the Ugandan market. The launch signifies another step in Chicking’s African expansion and is expected to create new opportunities for local employment and business growth.
Speaking as Guest of Honor, Hon. James Kubeketerya, Member of Parliament for Bunia East and Chairperson of the Committee on Education, applauded Chicking for choosing Uganda as its next destination.
“You have come to the right place,” he said. “Ugandans are kind and hospitable, and this environment is perfect for business. The sky is the limit.”
Hon. Kubeketerya described Uganda as “the best country in the whole world” for investment, commending the company for its confidence in the nation’s growing economy. He encouraged more international investors to follow suit, noting that Uganda offers a stable business environment and a fast-expanding consumer market.
MPs Rally Behind Investment
Several other Members of Parliament attended the ceremony, underscoring strong political and community support for the venture. Among them were Hon. Christopher Komakech (Aruu County), Hon. Denis Nyangwesho (Samia Bugwe Central), and Hon. Geoffrey Macho (Busia Municipality).
The legislators commended Chicking for investing in Uganda, emphasizing that such initiatives will create employment opportunities for young people and promote local enterprise. They also called on other global brands to recognize Uganda’s growing market potential and favorable investment climate.
CEO Commits to Local Empowerment
In his remarks, Mr. Seri Khan, CEO of Chicking Uganda, expressed excitement over the brand’s debut in Kampala, describing it as “a significant milestone in Chicking’s African journey.”
“The opening of this outlet is not just about serving food—it’s about creating memories and empowering the communities where we operate,” Mr. Khan said.
He announced that Chicking Uganda will hire Ugandans at all levels and source its supplies locally, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainable business practices and community empowerment.
“We are here to grow with Uganda,” he added. “Our goal is to support local talent and create lasting impact.”
About the Brand
Founded in Dubai in 2000 by Mr. Mansur, Chicking has grown from a single outlet into a global quick-service restaurant brand operating in nearly 40 countries with close to 400 stores worldwide. The brand’s rapid growth has seen recent expansions into Mecca, South America, New Zealand, and the United States.
Although the founder was unable to attend the Kampala opening due to travel commitments, Mr. Khan conveyed his regards and reiterated Mr. Mansur’s belief in Uganda’s strong market potential as a key part of Chicking’s African growth strategy.
Plans for Expansion
Mr. Khan revealed that the Kampala outlet is just the beginning, with plans already underway to open additional branches across Uganda in the near future. The move is expected to strengthen Chicking’s presence in East Africa and create hundreds of new jobs as the company scales operations.
