Recording Artist H.E.Bobi Wine together with events promoters Abtex and Bajo have expressed their concern over police’s delay in responding to their notice about the upcoming Kyalenga concerts to be staged on Monday the 22 of April at One love beach in Busabala.
Addressing the media in Kampala, Bobi Wine says, they submitted the required letters to police headquarters in Naggulu a month back, but to their disappointment, nothing positive has been heard from police yet.
Since last year, Bobi Wine’s events have been blocked by police over alleged failure to fulfill the necessary requirements.
Bobi Wine insists that their Kyalenga events at Busaabala One Love Beach on Easter Monday, Gulu, Lira and Arua will go on as planned. He further stresses that, the continued oppression by the state machinery erodes away their rights especially the economic right.
Andrew Mukasa of Bajjo Events and Abby Musinguzi of Abtex Promotions request government to consider music as a job to most of the people especially the youth adding that by blocking Bobi Wine concerts is having a great economic impact to the players.
The promoters now insist, Bobi is the hot cake in the music industry with anyone to earn from the shows, they have to have him on the lineup of recording artists they are to present to them.
Nubian Lee also a recording artist who sings with Bobi a professional accountant who turned into a recording artist challenges fellow artists to come out loud and condemn these acts of impunity, saying today its them, tomorrow it might be another artist.
H.E. Bobi Wine has not had a show since last year and this is all attributed to the fact that he has aggressively shown desires to stand for presidency in Uganda come 2021 which the current regime feels not good.
