You Incited The Public To Commit An Offense. Nambooze Charged

The Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze Bakireke has been charged before Nakawa chief magistrates court with Inciting the public to commit an offense .

Nambooze was driven to court in an Ambulance from police CID Hqs in Kibuli where she was summoned to appear this morning since her return from a hospital in India.

Nambooze is currently confined in a wheel chair because she has spinal cord and leg injuries.

She has however pleaded not guilty to the offense and Grade one magistrate Noah Sajjabi released her on a non -cash bond of 5 million shillings.

Her sureties were ordered to sign a bond of ten million shillings to ensure that she returns to court on 27th/next month for mention.

According to prosecution’s Deborah Etwau, Nambooze is said to have committed the offence on 9th/June 2018 through statements she uttered and wrote to the media, that allegedly incited the public to attack and murder public figures, saying however guarded they may be government could not secure them.

Namboze was summoned to explain the alleged statements after the death of Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga who was gunned down a few meters away from his home at Kawanda.
