Sadolin Has Not Rebranded To Plascone –Adupa
By Adiga Julius and Acaye Henry.
The Public relations manager of Sadolin Felix Adupa Ongwech, has said that Plascone paint is not part of Sadolin brand.
In an interview with eyewitnessug in Kampala, Mr. Adupa said in Uganda Akzonobel is operating under franchise, where it gives license to local companies to distribute its product.
He said AkzoNobel is global brand manufacture, it gave license to a local manufacture in Uganda to distribute Sadolin products, which used, its name for very many years, after they decided willingly to walk out from Akzonobel and got a new partner called Plascone, who started miss-informing the public, that Sadolin rebranded to Plascone which is not true.
“Plasscon is a new paint in the Uganda market,” he said.
“Sadolin has not re-branded, is still owned by its original global owner of sadolin and that is AkzoNobel. So this propaganda that Sadolin has re-branded is malicious. “In fact this is a move to frustrate Sadolin brand Adupa noted.
He added that AkzoNobel is based in the Netherlands and has decided to invest directly in Uganda.
“As we speak, we have invested over 10 billion Uganda shillings in setting up a manufacturing plant in Namanve Industrial Park, which is already operational,” Mr. Adupa said.
He noted that, the Sadolin product in market is of high quality, because it’s directly managed by AkzoNobel therefore the quality of Sadolin and Plasscone is not the same.
He however explained that the company made agreement with Crown Paint Company to distribute Sadolin product in Uganda, but manufacturing is solely done by its owner AkzoNobel.
He added that crown Paint Company has got subsidiary in the name of regal paints operating in Uganda but they don’t manufacture Sadolin.
