Lugazi Municipality MP, Isaac Sozi wants Uganda National Roads Authority to redesign the road especially at Kikaula, about one kilometre away from Lugazi town, on the Jinja-Kampala highway which spot he describes as a death trap.
Sozi notes with concern that on the same particular spot 16 people died when a trailer had a head on collusion with a tax in February last year. Adding that every month a life is lost in an accident on the same sport.
He says that on the same black spot three prominent sports journalists from Newvison newspaper and another from monitor were killed after their vehicle collided head on with a pickup truck on 28th August 2001.
The legislator says that he has several times written to
(UNRA) to redesign the road, add flyovers and more humps however this has not been done. Sozi is now asking parliament to intervene and ask the ministry of works and transport to explain the matter.
