CLARIFICATION ON PURPORTED HAZARDOUS FRESH DAIRY
MILK PRODUCTS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The media – specifically social media – has been awash with statements
claiming that the Minister of Health reported “‘findings of a hazardous chemical’ – Sodium
Metabisulphite, in Fresh Dairy Milk products and hence advising Ugandans to stop consuming
these products.”
The Ministry of Health would like to strongly refute these allegations as baseless and malicious
rumors. In the same vein, we would like to clarify as follows:
1. None of the Ministers of Health or any other official from the Health sector has made such
a statement.
2. The message being circulated on the different media platforms is a baseless and malicious
rumor and should be treated as such.
3. The Ministry of Health hereby sends a strong warning to the general public to desist from
spreading baseless claims about the Ministers of Health and the Health sector in general.
The Ministry of Health therefore calls upon the general public to disregard the rumor and always
refrain from spreading malicious propaganda.
