Maracha east mp, James Acidri has asked the population in west Nile especially the youth to get involved in the planting of trees in an effort to protect the environment
Acidri also asked the communities to devise energy-saving techniques to conserve energy by using less charcoal or firewood, avoiding unnecessary destruction of wetlands due to farming practices, and irresponsible disposal of non-degradable stuff like plastic bottles and polythene bags.
He says that the people in the region have intensified brick-making activity which he says is very good, however, the people must be conscious of degradation and should plan ahead.
He says that Vast areas of land in northern Uganda have been left without any vegetation cover and the national park has been affected which will, in turn, affect the wildlife which is a source of national income.
