Kenya Dominate Tug of War as Five Matches Light Up Day at EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games

The tug of war at Lugogo Indoor Stadium delivered high energy and tough contests on Monday as both men’s and women’s teams battled for an early advantage at the ongoing 2025 East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games.

Men’s Match

In the only men’s fixture of the day, Kenya’s men MPs overpowered Uganda’s men MPs 2–0, taking both pulls with superior strength and coordination. Uganda showed strong resistance but could not break Kenya’s firm grip, giving the visitors an early lead in the men’s standings.

Women’s Fixtures

The women’s category featured four matches, all of which produced clear outcomes and reshaped the early competition table.

South Sudan Women MPs 2–0 EALA Women MPs
South Sudan opened the day with a confident win, taking both pulls comfortably and securing three points.

Kenya Women MPs 2–0 Uganda Women MPs
Kenya extended their dominance with a powerful performance against Uganda, controlling both rounds with precision and teamwork.

South Sudan Women MPs 0–2 Kenya Women MPs
Kenya continued their strong run, defeating South Sudan to register their second win of the day and strengthen their position as early favorites.

Uganda Women MPs 2–0 EALA Women MPs
Uganda closed the women’s contests with a composed performance, taking both pulls to secure an important victory and boost their standings.

Overall Picture, With Kenya winning in both the men’s and women’s categories, the delegation ended the day as the strongest performers. South Sudan also impressed with one solid win, while Uganda recovered with a crucial result against EALA after their earlier loss to Kenya.

The 2025 EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games, which began on December 05 and run until December 17, continue to promote unity and regional cooperation among MPs and staff across the East African Community. Tug of war—alongside football, netball, basketball, athletics, darts, and volleyball—remains one of the most competitive and spirited disciplines in the tournament.
