Members of Parliament from West Nile have elected new office bearers to coordinate the region’s activities, following the expiry of the tenure of the previous leadership.
Ayivu Division East constituency MP, Geofrey Feta, who also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Natural Resources and Environment Committee of Parliament, was elected new Chairperson, replacing Zombo County MP Lawrence Biyika Songa. Others elected include George Bhoka Didi (Obongi county) as Vice Chair, Koboko North County MP Musa Noah as General Secretary, and Lilian Obiale Paparu (DWR Arua) as Finance Secretary.
The new chair, Hon. Geoffrey Feta, emphasized that the team has agreed to work towards better cohesion to serve the region’s interests.
Feta acknowledged that West Nile is a diverse community comprising various tribes, including Madi, Alur, Lugbara, Kakua, and Okebu, making it distinct from other regions. He stressed that teamwork is essential to address the region’s unique challenges, such as poor road networks, high school dropouts, and youth unemployment.
Feta emphasized that the region’s problems supersede individual differences and that unity is crucial to progress. “We want to work as a united force of leaders from West Nile. Our resolution as new leaders is cohesion, teamwork, and unity,” Feta noted, highlighting the team’s commitment to addressing the region’s pressing issues through collective effort.
