Police nets “Museveni death” speculator

Police have waged a special operation against social media bloggers who have been speculating about Museveni’s death and arrested one suspect by name of Jamil Sekyondwa from Luweero district.
The police are still hunting for others still at large including a renowned Sweden-based blogger Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye.
On Thursday, President Yoweri Museveni directed security to arrest bloggers who use social media to announce him dead.
Police have not wasted time launching operations against bloggers who have been spreading fake news of Museveni’s death. One Jamil Sekyondwa from Luweero district has been arrested as the search for others wages on.
According to the spokesperson of CIID police, Charles Twine Sekyondwa will be aligned before the court on Tuesday next week to battle with charges of offensive communication.
He says police is coordinating with its sister agencies across the globe to net other suspects who operate outside the country. The prime suspect in the matter is the renowned blogger Fred Kajjubi Lumbuye makes his sensational podcasts from Sweden.
Twine says they are going to use this case to revive similar cases of fake news where other prominent figures have been pronounced dead like the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago in order to tame the vice.
Social media platforms have in the past few weeks have been awash with reports announcing Museveni dead whereas others indicated that he had been admitted in critical condition in a neighboring country.
