The season has come back where Ugandans have to make their final and loud say on who will be their next president, but leadership now is just a spiritual calling to that very person to lead the nation and among the aspirants include Dr. Joel Ssekimpi.
Dr. Ssekimpi who picked nomination forms at the electoral commission headquarters in Kampala to contest for the country’s highest post openly states that he has for long felt and witnessed that leaders are picked based on the spiritual calling which helps them govern the country.
Relating to Uganda’s past presidents, they come us unknowns but after assuming power, they become great people after steering the country for some good time. Here is Dr. Ssekimpi with zill and determination to challenge the incumbent president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the topmost position of this country.
Among the past presidents of Uganda who came into power as unknown were, Binaisa, Idi Amini, Obote, Yusuf Lule, Muwanga and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni all these where not known and leaders then disguised them but later took overpower.
He further states that “Leadership is a calling and not about credentials” and to him, he has all the spiritual feeling that he can make a great Ugandan leader. And on this, he compares himself to great men in the bible who were never learned but just determined to take on the mantle to create better guidance for their subjects, and in him, he considers himself as one of those great and determined men to take Uganda forward.
Ssekimpi reveals that he will soon be traversing the country to collect signatures from over 90 districts to present to the electoral commission before his final nomination day.
The determination in him shows that he is more than ready to contest as a very serious candidate and not as a joker just like many Ugandans think.
Since the start of the exercise this week over 25 aspirants have picked forms expressing their intent to contest for presidency in the coming elections and among those who picked the forms was Dr. Joel Ssekimpi, Daniel MatsikoChristopher Rugaga, Fred Mwesigye, Joseph Mwambazi, Harold Nuwasiima, Eric Kitsa Bunnet, John Katumba, Joshua Isingoma Mugisa and Bob Akileng all independents and Charles Bbale (Ecological party)
Now the voters and country are all waiting for the big guns like the incumbent, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, Gen. Henry Tumukunde, Hon. Norbert Mao, Hon. Jimmy Akena among others to come and pick forms.
Uganda will be going to the polls in February 2021 to decide who will be the next president for the coming five years.
