The assistant commissioner reproductive and infant health Dr. Makanga Livingstone reveals that the ministry will be launching the male health involvement guidelines on Friday this week as the country joins the rest of the world to mark the global men’s day.
Dr. Makanga says, the guidelines are aimed at guiding males on how to involve themselves in seeking health services, acquiring information on health and mobilizing resources.
Govt is launching this with a major focus on increasing the number of males who seek health services from the current less than 10% to better numbers.
The head of the mamas club of Uganda Margaret Mungerera adds that its very discomforting to see that the decision makers and bread winners at home are disadvantaged when it comes to seeking for health services hence the increased health burden among males.
Meanwhile, HIV/AIDS advocate against stigma, Moses Nsubuga aka Super Charger says, it’s very sad to see men shunning testing and drug collection yet they are the fiber of many homes in Uganda.
How now calls on all men to join the celebration which will be falling this Friday as a symbol of commitment to always accessing health services and health information from health facilities across the country.
