Anti-corruption activists in the country are calling on govt to put in place the asset recovery law to help in the fight against corruption among govt officers and other corrupt citizens.
Addressing a media conference ahead of the global anti-corruption week which starts on 9th December Cissy Kagba the executive director ACCU and other activists say much as some of the laws have been put in place, an independent frame work on asset recovery and seizure is still lacking.
They further note that there is no comprehensive law, but sections scattered in various pieces of the legislation and there is no law that allows recovery of proceeds before conviction.
Uganda is among the highest corrupt nations around the world with over USD.500M from donor partners swindled every year.
