The Executive director of Uganda cancer institute, Dr Jackson Orem has appealed to Health workers not to delay referring patients whose sickness has persisted without any improvement to (UCI) for early cancer diagnosis before it’s too late.
He made the remarks during the 2019 annual Hero’s camp held at Homesdallen School Gayaza to celebrate the lives of children who battled with cancer and survived across the country after completing their treatment.
Dr Orem also urged parents not to under look illnesses of their children since some of them could turn cancerous if not detected early and treated.
The event which was organized by Uganda cancer institute together with partners like Uganda cancer society saw over 150 children receive cancer survivors certificates.
The kids before receiving certificates enjoyed games, dancing , among other activities.
The executive director Uganda cancer society Paul Ebusa said they tracked the children survivors who have gone through cancer institute in order to send a message to Ugandans that cancer isn’t a death sentence and can be cured especially if detected early.
